"My time at the hospital when having a baby"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Maternity Services

(as the patient),

I did not have an easy labour, I was induced, and Janet was the midwife that looked after me, and she was fantastic she calmed me down. She did everything in her power to make me feel comfortable. Janet is an incredible midwife and would suggest her to everyone! Once Janet had finished her shift, Pauline was the next midwife with Melanie, again these girls were fantastic. I was having contractions every 10 minutes and each one they made me feel stronger and stronger. Then we found out the news I had to have a caesarean, Barbara was the midwife present and again she was great organised and made sure I was okay through the process. The next morning Janet was back on and I was so happy, she again helped me breastfeed as I have been not able to do much, the support by these midwives are fantastic! Well done ladies and thank you for making it easier on myself, partner and son!

Dear Sunshine1996,

Sometimes, people make birthing sound 'so rose coloured' and straight forward, but it sometimes isn't - and the best thing to have is a team of people around you who can help support you through each step. It sounds like our very wonderful midwives did this for you and I hope at the end of those few days you realised that you could conquer anything! Congratulations; and thank you for taking the time to thank our midwifery team - I am a bit biased but I do think that they are very special, mostly because they absolutely love their role, and hugely enjoy the privilege of sharing such special moments! Enjoy your family and your special time with your new family. And remember to take care of you!

Kind Regards,

Jan.

Also forgot to mention a big shout out to Chantelle who helped me get more confident at feeding! And also Lauren who has helped me through the cesarean and helped me get up moving and made me feel even more confident, once again wonderful midwives!
