"Being burnt in the outback"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital Meekatharra Hospital

(as the patient),

I fell into fire pits at a camp north of Sandstone. I did the appropriate first aid and in the morning drove to the nursing post at Sandstone. Being a weekend, they were not open till the following Thursday. On the Monday I headed to Meekatharra. I arrived about midday and was attended to by nursing staff and a doctor. Just how good are they down to the tea lady. Superb. They, in conjunction with Fiona Stanley Hospital, decided I should fly down via Royal Flying Doctor Service.

I am now in the burns ward awaiting a clean-up and graft. Since day 1 the staff have been magnificent and I thank them!

Dear hekatp95,

Thank you so much for sharing your kind words on Patient Opinion. I was so very sorry to read of your accident and the burns that you suffered, however, I was so pleased to read that the care you are receiving on your health care journey is of a high calibre. It certainly takes a team to provide healthcare to our communities and it is fantastic to see their efforts publicly acknowledged. Your feedback reinforces the work the teams do and their commitment to providing high-quality person-centred care and I will pass your wonderful feedback on as compliments like yours are greatly appreciated and lets our staff know they really are making a difference.

WA Country Health Service works in partnership with a number of great organisations including the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The partnership between health services and health transport providers is an integral component of rural health care. I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the Royal Flying Doctor Service involved in your care. I am advised that Patient Opinion has passed your compliment on to the team at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Thank you again for taking the time to write. I wish you all the best on your recovery and hope you get home soon.

Kind regards

Michele
