Kooweerup Regional Health Service.
November 2024, a friend, aged 87, was transferred from another care facility to Kooweerup Regional health Service in the Killara ward. On my first visit his comments about the facility were, clean room, friendly lovely staff, food is good, lovely with the garden and birds. My subsequent visits found him, somewhere in the facility, be it his room, day room, or chatting to someone in the corridor. The staff always knew where he was. He was always happy, even though he didn’t know where he was. He would not talk once his food arrived, as he tucked in. Not that he ate much of it. Unfortunately, in February 2025, he passed away, thankfully with some family present.
His caregiver's comments to me were that the staff were wonderful, handled the final moments with compassion, and helped facilitate a smooth transition. The system had him overwhelmed at times, but he had support.
On all my visits, I found the staff, nurses to be very helpful, respectful of his privacy,
