I only have good things to say about my experience at the family birth centre… i usually dislike medical appointments but in this case, I would look forward to every check up and appointment that I had with my midwife.
Vicky is a Godsend. She is so knowledgeable, calm and reassuring all whilst being so thorough. I really appreciated her advice, all the while she made it clear that I could make any decision I wanted and I would still be supported. She was only a phone call or text away, and she was so kind to answer any question that I had during my pregnancy.
I ended up needing to be induced due to hypertension, and Vicky guided me through that process in a way that made me feel safe. She and the student midwife Christeena put so much effort into advocating for me and making sure I could still have the water birth I had planned to have. Vicky even went to the efforts of moving us to a bigger, nicer room with windows, they brought the pool up to the hospital and even fairy lights to make the atmosphere relaxing.
Vicky, Christeena and Yumi didn’t leave my side the whole birth, I was able to focus on birthing my baby because they guided me though every step, and during the intense times, they reassured me it was all normal and just to go with it, which helped me relax and birth my baby girl with no rips or tears. Yumi also gave me the most precious gift of all by taking photos and videos which I’ll have to keep forever.
The follow up care with Vicky and Yumi was such a good experience- they looked after me and my baby so thoroughly, I can’t thank them enough for such a healing birth after not such a good experience elsewhere with my first two babies.
I could talk all day about the care I received from my midwives!! And I would recommend birthing thought the FBC to anyone I know. Thank you!
