"Water birth at the FBC"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Family Birth Centre

(as the patient),

I feel so lucky to have been accepted at the family birth centre for my second pregnancy, and had the most amazing experience from start to finish.

Mimi is the most wonderful midwife. She is so knowledgeable and caring. Appointments are well organised so no information gets missed (which could be easily done when there is so much to cover). My young toddler came to most appointments with me as and absolutely loves Mimi too! The FBC is so accommodating of families, and waiting room is equipped with toys and books for children.

I had the most empowering birth with Mimi and student midwife Lulu. I arrived in the middle of the night to a beautifully prepared, calm room with the birth pool filling. As I had built such a strong relationship with Mimi through my pregnancy, I felt she was so in tune with what I needed that night. She was supportive and calm, and respected my needs and wishes whilst keeping me and bub safe. Lulu was incredible too and is going to be the most lovely midwife. Our second daughter arrived beautifully in the water, and we were home within a few hours.

Mimi then went on well deserved annual leave after the birth, so I had her buddy midwife Viv for my 3 home visits. I had met Viv once in pregnancy on the 'buddy appointment', so it was lovely to have that continuity again. She was also wonderful, and I feel lucky to have got such a great team.

The MGP service at the FBC is just amazing in so many ways. This model of care makes the biggest difference to women during their pregnancies. I would recommend this to every pregnant woman that is able to go here.

Thank you so much Mimi, Lulu and Viv for everything... you guys are the best!

Dear July17

Congratulations on the birth of your second daughter, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I loved reading about your waterbirth – it sounds like such a beautifully calm environment. It's wonderful to hear how attentive Mimi and Lulu were to your preferences, providing such compassionate care throughout your journey. I am sure they will be very happy to know how empowered you felt with their care. It’s also lovely to read about how supported your whole family felt, with your toddler enjoying the appointments as much as you did!

We are extremely proud of the level of kindness and expertise shown by our staff and delighted to receive such warm recognition like yours. We’ll be sure to let Mimi, Lulu, Viv and the rest of the team know how much their care meant to you and your family.

Best wishes

Delaney
