I had the most supportive and incredible pregnancy and birth experience at the FBC at KEMH with my amazing midwife Mimi and her buddy system midwife Viv. All through my pregnancy the care from Mimi was thoughtful, warm and detailed. She supported me to have a labour and birth that was so empowering. She was confident and steady and guided me through and I always felt like i was in really safe hands and knew all my options. I felt super safe. Wouldn’t have changed a thing!
Post birth I also had a really good experience with a second degree tear with the doctors there who came down to the birth centre to stitch me up - this was amazing as it let me stay in the post birth zone with my new baby. And I felt like Mimi really helped me through and protected my space while it was all happening. The doctors did a great job - were super communicative and caring. Felt like I was in great caring hands all along. And the home visits with Mimi and Viv made such a difference for those early days - especially recovering and healing with a new baby. I hope more women can get this continuity of care and home care that I received.
