I had the privilege of giving birth to my second beautiful boy at the KEMH Family Birth Centre this month. I was lucky enough to be paired up with the most incredible midwife, Claire-Louise, who also delivered my first son back in 2023.
Both pregnancies, deliveries and postpartum periods have been wildly different, but my husband and I felt empowered on each occasion thanks to Claire-Louise’s knowledge and support. She took the time to really get to know me individually but also to know us as a family and I can’t imagine not having her there.
The Family Birth Centre is an incredible facility that doesn’t feel clinical, but a place I felt whole heartedly safe. The hospital is just a corridor away if needed, but as someone who doesn’t like hospitals, this was the perfect place to give birth.
A special mention also to Gabby and Brody who attended my second birth and who went above and beyond to make me feel safe from the minute I arrived on site, who made me laugh and who looked after me and my family even though we hadn’t met before. You are both also a big part of the reason I had such a beautiful birth experience.
