"King Edward Family Birth Centre"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Family Birth Centre

(as the patient),

I’ve had all four of my babies at the Family Birth Centre over the past six years, and it has always been a positive experience.

The antenatal care alone is such a positive and comforting experience. Having the same midwife throughout my whole pregnancy made such a difference; it’s reassuring having a familiar face who knows you, your medical history, and what you need. Going through the FBC feels like someone is there to take care of you and advocate for you the entire time.

As for the births themselves, I feel so lucky to say that all four of my birthing experiences through the Birth Centre have been positive and empowering, with zero complaints. Even when I had to be transferred up to the hospital after one of my births, the actual birthing experience itself was still incredibly positive.

Knowing I had that kind of support around me during pregnancy and post, made me feel calm, confident, and able to trust my body.

Thank you to the MGP 1 team at the FBC for providing such compassionate care, it has made each of my births such a special experience.

A special thank you to Khalia and Kirsty for caring for me throughout my recent pregnancy, and to Mimi and Sarah for being there during the birth. Thank you for trusting me, and for helping me trust my own body.

Dear librahs49,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with the Family Birth Centre (FBC) and congratulations on your newest edition. I was so pleased to read that all four times you have accessed care through FBC you have had a positive experience. Even when one of your births didn’t go to plan and you were transferred into the hospital, you were still able to have a positive birth. It is clear the continuity of care and support you received throughout each pregnancy has had a lasting impact on your experiences.

We are exceptionally proud of the care and support the FBC team provide their patients, and it will give me great pleasure to pass on your thanks to Khalia, Kirsty, Mimi, Sarah and the wider FBC team.

Wishing you and your family all the best.

Kind regards,

Melinda
