Following a serious motor vehicle accident in July last year, I received care through Royal Perth Hospital that I believe exemplifies the very best of our public health system.
From the moment emergency services arrived at the scene, I was treated with professionalism, urgency, and reassurance. That high standard of care continued seamlessly on arrival at RPH, where the emergency department team acted quickly and decisively.
My admission to ICU was a critical stage of my treatment. During this time, I experienced not only highly skilled clinical care, but also genuine compassion from staff. The doctors, nurses, and support teams demonstrated constant vigilance, clear communication, and a calm presence that provided both confidence and comfort to me and my family.
The surgical teams involved in my care showed exceptional expertise, and I am deeply grateful for the outcomes achieved. Following surgery, the transition through the wards and into rehabilitation has been well-coordinated and consistently supportive.
There were so many professional and genuinely caring people involved in my treatment that, unfortunately, I cannot recall all of their names. The one name I do remember is trauma surgeon Dr Rohit, whose care and expertise I will always be grateful for. Please extend my thanks to him, and to all those whose names I have not been able to remember but whose efforts made such a difference.
What stands out most to me is the continuity of care across the entire patient journey. At every stage, I felt that teams were working together with a shared focus on my recovery. I was treated with dignity, respect, and kindness throughout.
I am still progressing in my recovery, however I would not be where I am today without the dedication and professionalism of the staff at Royal Perth Hospital.
Please accept my sincere thanks and pass on my appreciation to all those involved in my care.
