"Dog scratches"

About: Jurien Bay Health Centre

(as the patient),

Typical bloke, I thoughts the dog scratches on my leg were insignificant, but they began to redden and were tender to touch. My wife insisted I attend the medical centre but I didn't want to inconvenience anybody. A day later, I changed my mind and went in. The nurse was wonderful and not only was there an infection but, if I had let it go, sepsis was a real possibility. After an IV antibiotic plus dressing and a prescription for oral antibiotics things got better.

It took about a week but all good now.

Thanks to the team!

Dear volanswb86

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

We are pleased to hear that you sought care when you did and that our nursing team was able to identify and treat the infection before it became more serious. It is wonderful to know that the care, treatment and follow-up you received helped you make a full recovery.

Your kind words about the nurse and the team will be shared with them. Feedback like yours is greatly appreciated and also reinforces the importance of seeking medical attention early when concerns arise.

We wish you continued good health and thank you again for recognising the care provided by our team.

Kind regards

Susan Chambers

District Director Western Wheatbelt
