About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Family Birth Centre

I recently had my first baby with the support of the FBC throughout. Sarah was my midwife and I could not have asked for a better person to guide me through this journey. She was so lovely and helpful throughout, and gave me really valuable advice in the weeks following birth.

Due to a prolonged labour I ended up having to go up to King Eddies, and having my midwife come up with me made all the difference. She advocated for things she knew I wanted and kept the environment so calm and as relaxing as it could be. Olivia ended up being the midwife who was there during the actual birthing and I have all the same thoughts about her - was so lovely and calm and kept everything positive.

The service provided by the FBC is 10/10 and I wouldn’t want to be supported by any other service during pregnancy and birth. All the midwives we dealt with were kind, knowledgeable and just lovely to be around. If we have the privilege we will definitely be coming back for our next child.

Thank you for sharing your journey with the Family Birth Centre (FBC) and congratulations on the birth of your first baby. It was lovely to read how your primary midwife Sarah guided you through your pregnancy and post-natal journey proving you with her knowledgeable advice and although you were unable to birth in the FBC I was pleased to read that Sarah and Olivia continued to advocate for you on the Labour and Birth Suite and ensured the environment remained as relaxing and positive as possible during the unexpected change in location and your birth plan.

I will be happy to share your kind words with Sarah, Oliva and the wider FBC team, ensuring they are aware of the positive difference they are making during this special time.
