I absolutely loved the FBC model and having continuity of care with a midwife throughout my pregnancy and birth. As a first-time mother, having someone who knew me, understood my preferences and supported me throughout the journey made me feel incredibly reassured, supported and heard. I honestly can’t imagine going through the experience without that continuity of care.
Even when I was transferred to KEMH after a very long labour at the birth centre, I really appreciated that my birth preferences continued to be considered and respected. The midwives at KEMH were also amazing and made my 4 nights staying over which was an unexpected change in circumstances feel as positive and supported as possible.
I’m incredibly grateful for the care I received and for the way the midwives supported both me and my baby throughout the experience. The FBC model made such a meaningful difference to my experience of becoming a mother, and based on my experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to other first-time mums.
