Pregnancy

From the very beginning of my pregnancy, my experience with MGP3 at King Edward Memorial Hospital’s Family Birth Centre was exceptional. Having continuity of care and seeing the same midwives, Vicky and Claire, throughout my pregnancy allowed us to build a strong relationship based on trust. They are both highly experienced, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about what they do.

Every appointment felt personal. I was always greeted with a smile and a hug, and I never felt like just another number. The appointments were long enough that I never felt rushed and always had plenty of time to ask questions or talk through any concerns. I particularly appreciated that information was given at the right time — I never felt overwhelmed, but always had enough knowledge to make informed decisions about my care.

Vicky and Claire made me feel empowered and respected in my own decision-making, particularly when discussing my preferences for labour and my birth plan. They listened to what was important to me rather than telling me what I should do. They were also incredibly flexible with appointment times, which made it much easier to balance my pregnancy appointments with work.

Most importantly, I always felt that they genuinely cared about me and my baby. You can tell that Vicky and Claire truly love their jobs, and that passion came through in every interaction.

Labour

The Family Birth Centre is a beautiful and calm environment, and having Vicky there made the experience even more special. I called her in the middle of the night when labour began, and despite having already worked all day, she arrived before I did. From the moment she arrived, she created a calm and safe environment and allowed me to lead my labour, which was exactly what I wanted.

One of the things I appreciated most was how well Vicky understood the birth experience I wanted. She didn't unnecessarily disturb the birth space and gave my husband the opportunity to be the person caring for me and supporting me. This allowed us to share a really special experience together as a couple, while still knowing that Vicky was there when we needed her.

When my labour didn't go to plan and I decided that I wanted to be transferred to hospital, Vicky immediately respected my wishes and organised the transfer. Claire then met me at the hospital and stayed by my side until I left the recovery room. Having such a familiar and trusted face with me during surgery was incredibly comforting.

Throughout the entire labour, both Vicky and Claire gave me choices, provided information in line with my birth plan and continued to advocate for me. Even during a long and challenging labour, they remained positive and supportive. I genuinely felt that they cared for me and advocated for me as they would for a member of their own family.

Postpartum

The care didn't stop when my baby was born. Vicky and Claire genuinely cared about how I was recovering and continued to check in through text messages and home visits. The home visits were invaluable because they meant I could recover in the comfort of my own home rather than having to travel back to hospital for every concern or check-up.

They followed up on every concern I raised and made sure I felt supported, heard and cared for during those early weeks of motherhood. Knowing that I could reach out and that they genuinely wanted to know how I was doing made such a difference during a very vulnerable and emotional time.

Saying goodbye at the end of the MGP journey was genuinely sad. By that point, such a strong bond had been formed, and Vicky and Claire had become such an important part of my pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience.

I will be forever grateful to Vicky and Claire for the care, compassion, respect and support they gave me. MGP3 provided exactly the kind of continuity, trust and personalised care I had hoped for, and I couldn't recommend Vicky, Claire and the Family Birth Centre highly enough.
