Approximately one year ago I underwent a surgical procedure. I had a number of issues associated with the treatment and management of the inserted tube post surgery, including severe pain and an unrecognised obstruction, and an unrecognised partial gastric outlet obstruction. I felt my concerns were not taken seriously and eventually the tube slipped out some and was then removed by a registrar. I then waited, fasting, for five days in which time the stoma closed over.
I made a complaint through the " The Compliments and Complaints" at RMH. I was not happy with the response and requested a review and provided further evidence from FOI. I requested that review eight months ago. Recently I sent a letter to the " The Compliments and Complaints" liaison asking for an update as to the progress of my review. Not for the first time my letter has not even been acknowledged.
I have decided to escalate my complaint, as an internal complaint process has not worked for me. I do not feel safe or confident in seeking treatment at Royal Melbourne Hospital and have chosen not to.
