"Felt my dad was neglected at the Neurology ward."

My dad was recently treated at the neurology ward of the Royal Melbourne Hospital. I was appalled by what seems to me to be a lack of duty of care shown towards my dad and other patients in that ward when I visited my dad. If I did not witness what I thought was such blatant lack of concern for the patients, I would not believe it, and how many more patients would be experiencing such poor treatment in this ward. My dad was treated very well at Acute Medical Unit (AMU) so I knew he was mistreated at Neurology that morning after he begged me to take him home. The nurses on duty when I visited didn't have their name badges on but I checked the board and I am so upset with two of the nurses attending my dad on the Neurology ward. My dad was very happy with Freya and Zoe and his temperament and health was looking really good. Then he changed. And I think I know why. When I visited dad's room which he shared with another patient, the other patient called out for water at least 5 times and still no nurse came in despite standing just outside as they were discussing the charts. I went out of the room to tell them the patient wants water and they said they'd be there in a minute. 10 minutes passed and still no water. Then the patient asked again can I please have some water so I asked the nurse again and she told me to just pull the curtain. How appalling. My dad then told me he wanted to get out of his bed to go to the toilet and I saw he was wearing a nappy. I asked my dad why are you wearing that and he said they made me wear one. My dad can go to the toilet, he just needs help getting to the bathroom. I think that two of the nurses attending my dad are lazy and showed no care. Then I heard screams from another room and one of the nurses told me you'll hear screams on this ward, it's normal so just ignore it.  I feel this behaviour is disgusting from nurses towards really ill patients. I noticed for both my dad and the other patients that their buzzers were not within reach but up against the wall! So if they can't reach the buzzer and they are ignored when they call out, why are these nurses even there? ? ! ! !
