"Excellent treatment"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the Emergency Department as I was feeling quite terrible. I was diagnosed with Pneumonia and stayed at the Geraldton Hospital for 6 days. During this time I received what I believe to be the best care possible. My call bell was always answered promptly, the nursing staff responded to my increased coughing with nebulisers, I was treated with dignity and care when I went to the toilet or showered. Overall the care I received from staff was excellent.

Unfortunately the Hospital went into Code Yellow and I was moved from my single room into the Day Surgery Ward where there was only 2 toilets per 20 patients for 4 days.

Dear Geraldton Nanna

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Patient Opinion about your healthcare experience at Geraldton Hospital. I was delighted to see our team recognised for providing safe, high-quality, compassionate care.

We acknowledge that the facility reached Code Yellow from the 1 – 9 October. A Code Yellow occurs when a facility experiences an influx in patients – usually above and beyond its physical capacity. In these instances, additional resources are sourced and patients are managed based on their acuity.

Rest assured we’re always seeking a greater understanding of the key drivers that contribute to patient experience and your feedback has been passed on to the Geraldton Hospital Operations Manager.

Wishing you the very best for your recovery.

Warm regards

Michele
