I am writing to complain against wrong information given to me by the reception staff at the Royal Hospital for Women.
Last month my wife was admitted to Prince of Wales (POW) Hospital Emergency Department and was shifted to Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) later that night. One of the nurses told me to get the parking ticket validated from the reception, as my wife was pregnant and had a yellow card. The reception staff at the ground floor of RHW, instead of directing me to the POW information counter, simply gave me the wrong information by saying that since my wife doesn't have a concession card, she is not entitled to concessional parking.
Since then my wife has been visiting the RHW thrice a week; every time taking taxis/Ubers from and to the hospital because it is cheaper than paying for the whole day parking ticket. The total sum we have paid so far approaches $200. I wonder why you did not include this simple information on your website and why it was not included in the pregnancy information pack given to us when we visited RHW for the first time. In my opinion, I see no reason for omitting this information and for giving us the wrong info, other than a money grab. The missus and I are both full-time students and are expecting twins. Given her condition, she can't work. I work part-time and care for her as well. $200 is a large sum of money for us. Had you given us the right information, and included this information about concessional parking for pregnant women in the information pack/your website, we wouldn't have wasted this money.
I hope you can educate your reception staff and also improve your communication. I believe you should just include a simple piece of paper about this in the welcome/info pack so other would-be parents don't have to go through this.
