"Very happy relative"

About: Estia Health Aldgate

(as a relative),

Dad agreed to move into Estia Aldgate when Mom went into hospital and resigned. Dad had mild Dementia, but was struggling to look after himself in the house and was dreadfully lonely there on his own. At Andrewartha he had a great room with a view onto native bush and he enjoyed sitting in the sun on his veranda with his book or glass of wine. He was able to wander down the road to Aldgate to collect his whisky and wine from the bottle shop and bits and pieces from the local shops provided he could remember the front door code. He even walked to Stirling to visit Flight Centre to buy himself an air ticket to visit his mistress overseas. The staff were exceptional and when I visited from interstate over the weekends I was always amazed at the care and attention they gave to his very specific needs. Dad was a very forceful personality and he appreciated the attention from the staff and always referred to them as absolute angels. I could not have done for Dad in my little house what they did for him during those last 14 months of his life. I am eternally grateful for Estia's help and support through that time. Dad's only lament was that he was tired of living like a monk. I see non-ACAT partners can be considered, and they were considered when Dad was there but sadly for Dad, his mistress could not get into Australia.
