I recently had eye surgery for cataracts and I found out from my nephew that his mother had received a text message from the hospital a few days before the surgery. Only one problem was I was not in contact with her. She had previously taken me for surgery last year for one eye and this year I had put my eldest daughter's details for surgery on the other eye.
I think the staff should check the patient's most current form for up to date details and who their current contacts are prior to making contact.
I also did not receive a phone call the afternoon before my surgery between 2pm-6pm. My eldest daughter had to call for details after 6pm.
I had a follow up appointment the next day at 7.45am. Other patients I had met the day before were also there. We were puzzled as to why they had to make us come in so early, when the doctors did not start calling patients until 9am.
