"Confidentiality"

I have recently been to the diabetes clinic and have been seeing a specialist to learn about my new condition and how to work with it.

I have had a friend contact me asking how I am going with my condition and that their partner, who works at the hospital had mentioned to them that I had been diagnosed and that there was complications.

I understand that this is harmless and they did not intend to invade my privacy, however this is supposed to be confidential medical information and I am obviously uncomfortable with the situation.

I do not want to get anyone in trouble so I will not be naming who it was or myself, but I would appreciate if the staff could please be reminded that patients medical records are confidential.
