"Waiting time for procedure"

About: Alfred Health Werribee Mercy Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Werribee Hospital recently with severe abdominal pain thought to be an infected lap band, then transferred to the surgical ward. CT scan was normal but the blood test showed increased white cells suggesting there could be some infection around the port which is very tender, so proceeded to go on IV antibiotics with possible gastroscopy to check further.

Werribee surgical team referred the case to the Alfred as the procedure was completed there several years ago. Was at Werribee Mercy Hospital for a few days on free fluids waiting for a bed at the Alfred to have possible gastroscope. I was then visited by the appropriate surgical team to be told I'm not sick enough, gastroscope is broken and I could be discharged and come back for general admission for a gastroscopy.

Now I'm waiting for those instructions to catch up with the nurses and be discharged. I'm a full time employee and this has not only affected my time but their's, and the taxpayers money. My question is why couldn't Werribee Mercy have proceeded with the gastroscopy and results referred to the Alfred surgical team for the final outcome?
