"Hospital Staff at Meekathara Hospital are truly Amazing."

Today I went into Meekathara Hospital. I was greeted by 2 of the most amazing nurses I've seen. Their names Naomi & Abby. Nothing was to much trouble. Friendly and up for a chat about every day life and actually caring about ones health.

I was laying on the examination bed and being seen by the local Doc and another gentleman was admitted and he didn't want to be there. I laid there and the Doc was talking to him, I was listening and the way the doctor handled this gent was amazing.

The Doc ended up getting them both a cup of tea and listened to his problem. 

I must say its the first time I have ever seen a Doctor do what he did and not just walk away, he was amazing and caring.

To all you hospital staff you are truly amazing and don't get the recognition that you deserve.

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion regarding your care at the Meekatharra Hospital, it was wonderful to read about your positive healthcare experience with the team. Your feedback reinforces our commitment to providing high quality person centred care and putting our consumers first in all that we do. It is so important for us to see our health service users as a person first and foremost before an illness, bed number or the reason they are using our service.

Your story has also provided an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of kindness and compassion. The act of kindness is really quite simple, a few extra minutes of listening without interruption or a warm smile provides a sense of comfort and calm during what may be a stressful, emotional and chaotic time for our patients. I have seen firsthand how these little displays of kindness can enhance a patient's experience and ultimately lead to positive patient outcomes.

Your feedback fills me with pride acknowledging the professionalism and importantly the kindness and compassion of our Meekatharra team. The team will be extremely pleased to hear that they made a difference to your experience and to another’s and I will ensure your feedback is passed onto to them with a special mention to Naomi and Abby. Your story will also be passed on to broader workforce to demonstrate the importance of kindness and compassion and the impact it can have on our patients' experience.
