"Poor management"

About: Tivoli Gardens Ipswich

(as other),

I lived in Tivoli Gardens Over 55 Independent Living units for many years.

The facility offered live-in care takers, one of whom would cook meals if required. Tenants had an entry buzzer for the front gate. The grounds were maintained well and some social activities were organised by management.  The Community Hall offered gym equipment, pool table, indoor bowls, radio and TV, coffee and tea supplies were available and even an internet computer was also available with a printer. There was a community bus for shopping twice a week.

The facility offered value for money, peace of mind and was well run.

Sadly, 9 managers later the situation is quite different.

Eureka Holdings now has management rights and owns several of the units.

Several of the units were condemned because of mould issues, this has eventually been fixed.

Even the main office was condemned for a period of time. Blue Care Nurses organisation refused to visit onsite. Front gate does not work any more. There is no bus anymore. Kitchen is condemned and it seems unlikely that it will ever get fixed. Gym equipment has been removed. Some of the appliances (white goods) in the units will not be replaced when broken.

Sadly I feel Tivoli Gardens no longer offers value for money and there is now a level of mistrust amongst tenants with Eureka Holdings Management and the Body Corporate, with a lot of justification. For persons inquiring about leasing a unit take nothing for granted and ask lots of questions in regards to ongoing services. Read your inclusions section in the lease carefully.

I feel that the duty of care can be improved sufficiently.

I for one am glad to have moved on.
