"No kindness or compassion"

About: Perth Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

So for the last few years I have had severe stomach issues that have worsened over the last few months causing me to be 100% debilitated when it occurs. I cannot sleep, eat or move. I cannot shower; get myself to the toilet get a drink nothing without help. I get extreme pain and even lose consciousness I will even tremor and vomit.

I was seeing the Gynaecology at Perth Children's Hospital, they were amazing but unsure that it was the right field and referred me to Adolescent Medicine.

In the last week my symptoms worsened, an emergency appointment was made which I attended in hope of answers, tests, treatment and medication. I saw a doctor in Adolescent Medicine at Perth Children’s Hospital. The doctor refused to investigate anything and told me if I could not use the clinic. The doctor refused to give me any medication or treatment. I feel that the doctor was rude, harsh, condescending, arrogant and just nasty it was unnecessary. I am very unwell and came in practically begging for help and got turned away. When I asked what I could if I felt that unwell again the doctor told me that ED is for life threatening emergencies and unless it’s a life threatening emergency you just need to learn to accept it and deal with it.

I was so upset by the end of the appointment I was beside myself in tears. I had so much hope that they would help me as they are a hospital, after all it was in the middle of the day all of the specialists were still there and they have their own ward but they refused to help me, sending me home in pain and feeling faint. I would feel too uncomfortable to ever use Perth Children's Hospital even if it was an emergency.

A little kindness and compassion goes a long way!
