"Excellent care received"

About: Carnarvon Hospital

(as the patient),

I broke my wrist in Coral Bay and was attended to at the nurses station, assessed by video and then we drove to Carnarvon Hospital. We were attended to promptly but being evening we had to stay in town, the ED assisted with accommodation booking. Returned following day for x-ray then greeted again by Dr Geert who very proficiently set my wrist so I could travel back to Melbourne. Very impressed with my overall treatment and professionalism. I wouldn't recommend a broken wrist but fantastic that this service was available.

Dear holidayending,

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion regarding your care at the Coral Bay Nursing Post and the Carnarvon Hospital, it was wonderful to read about your positive healthcare experience with the teams. Your feedback reinforces our commitment to providing high quality professional person centred care and putting our consumers first in all that we do. The team will be extremely pleased to hear that they made a difference to your experience and I will ensure your feedback is passed onto to them with a special mention to Dr Geert.

The video link you speak of is the Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS) which is a wonderful service that uses videoconferencing equipment to connect local doctors and nurses with highly trained, emergency medicine specialists. The emergency medicine specialist is linked via videoconference, providing guidance to the local treating team. A consultation with an ETS doctor is just like any other ‘in person’ consultation and allows us to provide high quality specialist care close to home.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience, your feedback allows us to recognise our staff for the wonderful work they do each and every day. I hope you have recovered well and I wish you safe travels back to Melbourne.

Warm regards

Michele

I am now recovering and plaster comes off in 4 weeks, then the hard work stars with getting back my mobility.
