"Very disappointing visit."

About: Knox Private Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Knox Hospital at midday recently. I was taken to a shared room after asking for a private room. That’s the least of my problems.

I was taken down for surgery at around 4pm. All went well and I was brought back to my room. I told staff I was hungry and they eventually brought some soup and sandwich.

I wanted to use the bathroom. When I got there the patient in the other bed couldn’t get up and they needed to use a bedpan. When I opened the door the bedpan was upside down on the toilet seat.

My bed was never made and with only one hand after surgery, I couldn’t cover myself enough to keep warm. The breakfast came the next morning and consisted of a bowl of cornflakes and a large roll. Try doing anything with one hand and in pain. I asked for some porridge which was brought up. Very nice. I’d just put the last spoonful in my mouth and was told I had to leave. Unfortunately, I have to come back eventually to have my other hand done. I’m not looking forward to it at all.

If I could have it done in a public hospital I would. I’ve seen friends go public and been treated exceptionally well. What happened? I feel this hospital used to be fantastic. Now I’m terrified of coming back.
