"Thanks a million"

About: Mount Magnet Community Health Service

(as the patient),

I had the flu, then I contracted a bug and the result was diarrhoea which I mishandled (I drank milk) and was unable to ingest food. When I tried a Jatz cracker I vomited about half an hour later. I asked a St John's ambulance person if she had any idea what food I should be trying to eat and she directed me to the Nurses Post which I attended.

I asked what food I should be trying to eat. Raelene asked for a urine sample and checked my mouth, said both looked dry and decided to run more tests. Blood was next. With the results she deemed I was in trouble, had me drink a bottle of hydrolyte and eat a popsicle. She then contacted a Doctor in Perth and via video link we spoke. He was insistent I drive to Geraldton Hospital ASAP  after I had a bag of saline put into me via a cannula. I had kidney failure and this wonderful nurse picked up I was in trouble whereas all I wanted to know was what food to eat.

Thanks a million Raelene and Gloria from Mount Magnet Nurses Post.

Dear horologiumss75,

I was sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with kidney failure so I am very grateful that you took the time to share your story about the excellent care you received at Mt Magnet Nursing Post. Your story is also important because it provides encouragement for others to seek help when feeling unwell.

Our staff really appreciate receiving compliments from their clients and it was a fantastic demonstration of how they worked in partnership with the Emergency Telehealth Service, as they identified and provided emergency treatment to you.

It will be a pleasure for me to forward your compliment to the team and I thank you for sharing your story with us. I hope you are starting to feel better as you receive further care and support.

Regards

Liz
