"Unethical doctor"

About: St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne

(as the patient),

I was charged over $300 for a 10 minute consultation with a gastroenterologist. They assured me I needed an urgent colonoscopy due to my serious symptoms. They stated they would perform the procedure but as a public patient - as a category "Urgent " patient. On the day of my procedure this doctor simply did not show up.

I had the procedure done by a doctor who never met me. After the procedure this doctor asked me to go back to see the first, so they could announce the medications that I must obtain.  I was asked to pay again the same amount as earlier, just to be told the name of medications I need. The same has been done by my GP but for free.

I'm on disability support pension and am a single parent. But this doctor simply did not seem to care. In my opinion, the desire for profit has blocked their morals and empathy. I feel this doctor misleads patients. I believe their priority is to make profit at any cost, regardless of morals, ethics or compassion. I feel these concepts are foreign to them when it comes to making a profit. The unknown doctor wanted to send me back to the first for a treatment plan after the procedure. I am not a football and refused to go. The same doctor wanted the same amount of money again, just to announce to me the medications to take. My GP has done the same for FREE.

Then they asked their, in my opinion, verbally abusive secretary to call me and abuse me over the phone for not coming back. I am smart now and understanding the money chase game and will not come back. The secretary was talking over my voice and I was unable to get a word in. I think this is the sign of a psychopathic personality trait.

I had to block the hysterical secretary and will report this to the proper authorities. I believe this doctor entered the medical industry to be a business person with a priority to make a huge profit at any cost. I went to see Doctor B (another doctor) who has a passion to help people who are suffering. He has over 25 years experience, unlike this doctor, and took me within three days and charged less than the first doctor's consultation fee for the entire procedure - which this first doctor wanted to charge me thousands for.

I believe God helps us to avoid such people. Sadly there are too many like them. I think they are money-hungry sharks without any compassion for people or empathy. I think they entered the industry to spin their dollar but not to treat us.
