I had a colonoscopy recently and I believe the experience at this hospital sets the benchmark for other WA hospitals to reach. I arrived at the appointed time as requested, checked in at reception and was asked to sit in the waiting area for an orderly to arrive.
5 minutes later the orderly arrives and asks all of us to follow them to the pre-entry ward where we all sat in the waiting area. 2 minutes later, I was being weighed/personal details, etc and asked to change into a gown and sit/lie on the bed in the cubicle.
10 minutes later, the Dr comes around to do their check with me. 2 minutes later the anesthetist comes and checks with me, and 20 minutes later I am wheeled into the theater for the procedure.
In a matter of 2 and a half hours from checking in to being wheeled out of theatre and an hour later to be given the ok to go home was a fast, efficient experience and the DR., Anesthetist and all theatre and ward nurses gave exceptional service.
The first colonoscopy I had 3 years ago at a different hospital was nothing compared to this experience where it was 10 hours from check-in to being discharged. A long day in comparison to the few hours for the same procedure at BHS. Thank you so much.
