"My experience with Incontinence"

About: Cowes Phillip Island Health Hub

(as the patient),

Having had an increasing issue with incontinence, I was referred to Dianne, Nurse Practitioner, Urology/Continence at BSC in Cowes.

Her professionalism, friendliness and humour made me feel very at ease and confident throughout the testing procedure.

It is an area which does not receive public exposure and accolade, even though many people suffer from this condition.

I feel it important that nurse practitioners like Dianne be given recognition and support for their valuable service to the community.

Dear SWARTZ,

I couldn’t agree with you more. We know that urinary incontinence affects up to 13% of Australian men and up to 37% of Australian women and many don’t seek treatment because they are embarrassed or don’t realise that much can be done to remedy the incontinence.

Di is a highly skilled nurse practitioner (we feel very lucky to have her work with us) who specialises in this area and she works with a team of caring experts in continence management.

With fundraising support, we were able to get a urodynamic service set up at Cowes and it’s been an excellent addition to the suite of services available at the Phillip Island Health Hub.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your personal and positive experience. I hope it promotes others to use the service if they have continence issues.

All the best to you and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We will be sure to pass this on.

Kind regards,

Jan
