"Professional ED staff"

About: St John of God Midland Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

It did not take long to be admitted inside the ED. I was treated courteously and was taken to a bed, which was way too high and the gown was too small. To do up the gown was not an option as you would then choke whilst getting on that high bed (lol).

The place buzzed like a city, everyone and I mean everyone was working within a team, my impression was, these people are professionals.

I was at all times informed about what was going to happen in advance. Due to my injury, I was unable to get my jewellery on and off, so in the X-ray department, the person helped me with that as well as the orderly who insisted due to the fact that my jewellery might get lost.

I like the holistic approach, where they quickly assess all was in place in my home. Someone from physio also got me coffee and something to eat. She told me not to take my medication as they need to be written up by the Doctor.

I was finally allowed to go home with a different medication and a different diagnosis but only if someone came to pick me up, Doctor's orders.

This is my third experience in the ED department and I have nothing but praise for the professionals who work there.

Dear friend,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience in your kind words in our Emergency Department (ED). It is wonderful to learn that you had a safe and comfortable journey through the ED during your stay and were eventually safely discharged home. Your kind words will be shared with the caregivers in ED and Perth Radiological Clinic and I am sure they will be encouraged to continue their good work. Thank you once again and I wish you the best with your recovery.

Kind regards

Janet Jones

Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Clinical Governance
