I suffered an early stage miscarriage and had excellent medical care at both emergency and the early pregnancy clinic. The wait times are 4 hours which I had fortunately been warned about. I can’t fault the staff, they have a difficult role.
I would make a recommendation that at reception when they are calling people, that they find a different way to ask if someone is there for early pregnancy or fertility as the reception is shared and I could see when this question is asked at reception and again in front of the busy room, was making some patients uncomfortable in my opinion.
At home, I was added to a mailing list which included a magazine with a family and baby on the cover with the heading 'a happy homecoming' and a letter to request donations which also included stories of successful, albeit difficult, pregnancies and births. At the time of receiving the letter, I was still undergoing tests to confirm a successful miscarriage so I question the appropriateness and timing of sending this sort of communication and the ethics of asking for donations for fertility and pregnancy causes whilst someone is grieving their own loss.
"Excellent hospital care with minor suggestions"
