"Waiting time in ACU"

About: St George Hospital / Ambulatory Care Services

(as the patient),

I was in the waiting room for over an hour before I got call into Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU).

My appointment was in the morning but was delayed for an hour. This is very frustrating, also my anxiety level increases as the waiting stretches on and on. I’ve noticed this happening frequently since they have moved into Level 2. For the last several years I have been attending ACU on Level 1, the longest I have had to wait was 15 minutes. Now waiting time has blown out by at least 45 minutes. I believe this is not fair on patients and I feel something needs to be done about it.

Thanking you in advance.

Dear Cool,

Thank you for taking the time to write of your recent experience in our Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). I would like to apologise for the delay you experienced with your appointment. The staff in ACU work hard to ensure that appointments occur on time, however, at times there may be unavoidable delays.

I would like to investigate the delay you experienced and I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Manager, Ms Kath Helling on 9113 2687, or by email kathryn.helling@health.nsw.gov.au. This will enable us to conduct a thorough investigation into the reason for the delay you experienced with your appointment.

Kind regards,

Vicki Weeden
Acting General Manager
