"Aneurysm on my aorta"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Pre admission Clinic & Day of Survey Admission (DOSA)

(as the patient),

I have an Aneurysm on my aorta yet nothing has happened since over a year ago. I feel I have been put out to grass because your doctor won't operate on me as the Aneurysm is only, yes only, 46mm in size.

It seems I should forget that the doctor told me they do these heart operations every day and that they are an expert. The doctor also told me I could get a bleed which would kill me anyway so really do they care at all.

Here I am, 10Ks lighter in weight, extremely depressed and full of anxiety.
I want this operation. A Surgeon at another hospital told me their parent was the same age as me and that if their parent had this condition, they would operate straight away.

Dear zulusz94,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story about your recent experience at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Firstly I wish to apologise on behalf of the Hospital that the communication from one of the team members made you feel that they didn’t care, as that was not their intention

Clinical decisions are based on individual circumstances and I understand that the Consultant has been in touch with you to organise a further appointment to discuss your concerns.

Kind regards

Neil Doverty

Executive Director
