"Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology"

About: The Alfred

(as the patient),

Recently one morning, I should have had my appointment with a nurse to do my first immune allergy injection in The Alfred hospital at Specialist Clinics (Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology).

Reception

I attended the premises around mid-morning and found from the receptionist that my appointment had been cancelled without, I believe, any prior notice to me and that they had rescheduled my appointment for early next month without my consent.

I told the receptionist that I had made my appointment 5 months ago and that I also took the day off from my work and other commitments, and I will not be able to do any appointments after January because of my study and work circumstances.

I also said that I will be happy to do another appointment with any available nurse on my next day off later in the month.

In our conversation intervened another receptionist who told me that they do not have any spots for me at all.

I told them that I bought my injection one and a half years ago and it was very costly for me. That year my doctor planned to do my injections early 2019 and in the middle of the year, should travel overseas.

We decided to wait and do these immune allergy injections at the beginning of next year in 2020 (because I am planning to go overseas again later in the year) at that point I believe my injections still would not have expired.

After my explanations to the other receptionist, they replied back and said that I am on a Public Hospital System and I should expect cancellations of my appointments (for any reason without any notification to me) and if I am not happy with service, I should go and do these and everything else in the private sector.

I told them this response was not acceptable and I ask them to write down for me the contacts of Patient Liaison Office and both their names. Which they did.

I said thank you, but I believe no one replied back to me.
