"Waiting time in ED"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Had to wait with my infant baby at night for 2½ hours after triage. Just wondering whether it's small wait duration considering it's a baby and the Emergency Department (ED) was busy.

Dear waltzre68,

I would be keen to review your presentation to see if we got it right. I wonder if you would mind ringing me on 0472846355 to give me your details so that I could review your file?

The simple answer is - like all Emergency Departments in Victoria, we use the Australasian Triage Scale which is a clinical tool used to guide us on who gets seen first. This is so the sickest patients get treated first. So, it would depend on what the issue was that your babe was presenting with. The senior nurse who did the initial assessment would have made a decision on your babe's acuity level based on their assessment of the babe's need. Like I said, I would be happy to review your babe's notes to make sure we got it right. So, don't hesitate to give me a call with your details.

I hope everyone is doing well now:)

Kind Regards, Jan.
