I had 10 weeks old miscarriage recently, I started having serious contractions, that was around mid-morning, my spouse rushed us to Rockingham Hospital ED, was very much in pain and bleeding very heavily, sat for about 10 minutes waiting to register with the nurse.
Registered, explained what was my problem to the nurse, we were told to sit and wait, we waited for 2 hours and that's when the nurse came to check my vital signs and put patients' band on my arm and yet I believe they could see that I was really in pain. 20 minutes later the doctor called me and I could not walk upright.
Sat in the doctor's room, doctor asked me what they could do for me, explained to them, then their response was are you sure it's the blood clots coming out or tissues? Honestly, I was angry, how can a professional ask such a question to a patient as if they are a young child who doesn't know the difference between clots and tissues?
The doctor then told me to lay on the bed and examined my tummy, as if it was not enough, the doctor told me there was nothing they could do as ultrasound section don't work on weekends. They then took my blood and did HCG test, doctor told me the nurse will give me some pain killer, which I was given an hour later, after taking my blood.
I was seated in the same room, but another doctor came and told me to go back and sit at the reception while waiting for my results, which the results took another 2 hours. Then the doctor called me again, said sorry for the bad news it's like you are miscarrying so the only way we can know is by doing an ultrasound.
Then they gave me a prescription for pain killers. My main concern is that, what does ED mean? I didn't like the treatment I received more especially I was bleeding heavily, in pain and I felt no care at all.
They couldn't even give me a bed while waiting to see the doctor, the doctor couldn't even do an emergency scan and the doctor, I felt they couldn't feel for me as a woman, I'm sure a lot of people suffer like this too in my opinion. I feel very angry and hope things will change.
