"A journey through chemo"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Physical activity promotion Box Hill Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

This is about my story so far. A little while ago it was suggested to me that I should join the Acute oncology rehab exercise/physiotherapy as it would help me with the treatment.

I was feeling anxious, depressed, angry and full of woe is me, not sure that I wanted to join then I met April and she convinced me to give it a go and I started in the group. It was a struggle at the start with some pain and feeling very tired but with gentle encouragement and caring help by Germaine and April I persevered. As each week came around I started to look forward to my sessions with my 2 little guardian angles who were full of praise and motivation.

As the weeks went by I found myself getting stronger, more positive and willing to do whatever it takes to improve my situation. It was also a real eye-opener to see the other patients and to interact with them as they went on their journey. Today I feel 100% more physical, more relaxed, more capable and more positive about the future and have decided to join another exercise group. I also have purchased some second-hand exercise gear for home. A heartfelt thanks to April and Germaine (need some emojis).

Dear polarisjt55

Thank you so much for taking the time to share these comments regarding the positive experience you've had in the oncology rehabilitation program. I am so pleased they have assisted you to enjoy life more at what must be a very difficult time for you and your family.

It's clear to me that both April and Germaine demonstrate the Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility and it will give me great pleasure to share your feedback with them so they get to see the impact they have had on your life and no doubt others within the program.

Thanks again polarisjt55 and I wish you health and happiness!

Kind regards

David
