"Lovely staff"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was admitted to Emergency Department (ED) for a suspected neck/spine injury. They were quickly transferred to a bed in ED and got neck brace.

Although I was told the imaging equipment was not available between 12am-7am (it was a few hours after midnight). My child got a CT scan which I believe showed no fractures.

Amazing ED staff, including nurses, doctor and PSAs!

Moved to Paediatric Ward by morning and nice nursing staff introduced themselves and let us know about the facilities available to us. Although we were in for a further 3 nights, all staff we encountered were very nice, knowledgeable, patient and kind.

This was our first experience in a general ward and with this serious condition but the staff made it comfortable and eased us.

Dear velaye87

Thank you for sharing your lovely comments about you and your childs experience with the Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department. I was so pleased to read of your positive experience, as a mum myself I know how stressful it can be when your child is unwell and to have a team that is compassionate and caring looking after your child really does make a difference. It was very uplifting to know the team helped make a stressful experience for yourself and your child a less so.

It certainly takes a team to provide healthcare to our community and your story is a great example of the work our staff do every day and I will take great pride and delight in passing your compliment on. We really do value feedback as it enables us to reflect on what we do well and where we need to improve, it also lets us know what is important to our health service users.

Thanks again for taking the time to write and I hope your child is well and truly on the mend.

Kind regards

Michele
