(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, it was a very frightening and horrible time for me but when I met my oncologist (Chandra) for some reason she made me feel not so scared and I felt more at ease with dealing with my condition.

For the next five months I endured 20 weeks of chemo. The nurses in the oncology unit were unbelievable, they were the most compassionate and lovely women, and the care and support from all the oncology team, including reception ladies, was absolutely amazing. I will forever be grateful. There is not a lot I can complain about at Royal Perth, I think it's an outstanding hospital.

I'm due to have reconstructive surgery in several weeks time and I still have no surgery dates as of yet for when the surgery is and that makes it stressful - the not knowing. But besides the surgery dates, I think Royal Perth is awesome: )

Thank you so much for letting us know about the wonderful care and support you received from our staff during your difficult and frightening time battling breast cancer.

It is never easy dealing with a cancer diagnosis and we are fortunate to have such a wonderful, dedicated group of staff to provide compassionate and sensitive care for our patients. I have alerted Chandra and other relevant staff to your comments and I am sure they will be grateful for your kind and thoughtful words.

In relation to your reconstructive surgery, please call the hospital on 9224 2244 and ask to speak with the Plastic Surgery Waitlist clerk. We will endeavour to assist you as best we can and give you an indication of when you can expect to have your surgery.
