"Just another number"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Antenatal Clinic, Birth Suite, Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, Wards 3B, 3C, 3D, 3DO, Visiting Midwife Service Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

So for a week I had bleeding during my pregnancy. I had a miscarriage. I went to Fiona Stanley hospital 3 times, each time I felt they don't seem to care much.

The last time I went to Fiona Stanley hospital ED, I was told not to come back unless I was soaking a pad in blood. I felt I was treated quite rudely and the staff didn't seem to care. Even though I was bleeding, I believe they didn't want to bring my acute gynaecology appointment forward.

I was sent home and in my opinion, going home in pain is something not anyone should have to go through.

I am appalled by the treatment of Fiona Stanley and I do not feel safe going back there for anything.

The acute gynaecology clinic did not even return my calls as I had left numerous messages to call me back. In my opinion, it shows their communication is not up to scratch and they don't care about the patient at all, we are just another number.

Dear deltadh45,

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your attendances to the Emergency Department (ED) at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH).

I was sorry to hear of your experiences and feelings of lack of compassion. This does not meet with our values within the Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group, and the Emergency Department staff have been notified of your experience.

Unfortunately, the Emergency Department would not be able to make a decision to bring your gynaecology appointment forward. This would need to be determined by a member of the gynaecology team.

I also apologise that your calls were not returned by the acute gynaecology clinic even though you left numerous messages. This is concerning to hear and I would like to investigate this further.

Unfortunately, without patient details, we are unable to investigate thoroughly and provide a detailed response and so I encourage you to contact the Fiona Stanley Hospital Patient Family Liaison Service on 6152 4013 or via email: FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au to enable us to investigate your concerns and provide a formal response.

Kind regards,
