"Northam Hospital Rehab"

About: Northam Health Service / Specialist Services

(as a relative),

My parent is receiving care for their broken hip. My parent has been transferred from another hospital as it is our home town.

It is a new facility and very modern. I personally love the way it is set up and how it is user-friendly, open, bright, a lovely outlook and spacious.

My parent is up and they are getting their own breakfast in a communal area with dining facilities. Getting my parent ready for when they get home so there are no hidden surprises. The staff are so supportive and caring in my opinion. It seems nothing is too much trouble, they answer any questions and stay until all answered. We have never felt rushed or isolated.

We had a home visit where the Physiotherapist and OT (Occupational Therapist) came and we went through everything in place, with them, so we really know what we have to work on.

The staff were full of praise but also offering of alternatives and solutions for things we hadn’t thought of. I felt it was a very positive experience. The care has been amazing and we would certainly recommend this facility and its team of carers and staff.

My parent has enjoyed the meals and chats and finds everyone so friendly.

Dear volansgs98,

Thank you for sharing your story about your experience with our rehabilitation services.

It was lovely to read the staff involved in your parent’s care were so helpful, caring whilst considering alternative solutions to assist with clients regaining their confidence and mobility when they return home.

Our new Sub Acute Unit enables clients to have a thorough review from allied health hand nursing teams to assist them to return to an optimal level of function.

Referrals can be generated from hospitals within the region, metropolitan hospitals and general practitioners.

Your feedback assures us our staff are continuing to provide quality of care that we expect and I will have pleasure in passing on your kind words as I know they will appreciate this.

Thank you once again and hope your parent is well on the road to recovery.

Kind regards

Regina Michel-Huessy

Acting Regional Director - Wheatbelt
