"Taken to Fiona Stanley after a serious motorbike accident"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Breast Service & Ward 6A

(as a relative),

My fiancé was taken by ambulance to the Fiona Stanley Emergency Department (ED) recently. Obviously they were very frightened and in a great deal of pain, with the real risks of spinal fractures and internal bleeding.

The Senior Medical Staff, Emma, Ellena and Jame and Steph (nursing) cared for my partner and myself with an incredible amount of professionalism, care and compassion. They kept us informed the entire time of tests that were needed to be done, specialty teams coming to review my partner and the results and plan. The pain was also well managed. This was all during a time they were obviously busy in the department with some other challenging patients around us.

The Urology Registrar, Brad was brilliant. He was honest, knowledgeable and caring, and despite the situation of my partner being admitted to have surgery, was able to provide us with confidence in a very difficult time.

The ward staff on 6A were fabulous, as were all the other staff involved in my partner's treatment. We are very grateful to everyone involved and appreciate their dedication to looking after their patients and significant others in an hour of need.

Thank you!

Dear FianceOfFrightenedPatient,

Thank you very much for letting us know of your experiences in our Emergency Department during a really scary time. Our aim is for each patient and their loved ones to feel confident in the emergency care and information they are receiving at Fiona Stanley Hospital. This is what we would all want if we were in the same situation. We will make sure the staff involved in ED hear your wonderful feedback.

We are also delighted that your fiancé appreciated the care provided by the urology team.

I hope your fiancé is making a good recovery after their accident.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty

Executive Director
