"Accident and Emergency at Albany Health Campus"

About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I broke my arm at home and drove the 40km to Albany. The triage nurse was very helpful, giving me painkillers immediately. She also chased up the x-ray department as I had waited a couple of hours to be seen by the radiologist. The radiologist was very kind, helpful and an absolutely delightful gentleman who had only worked in Albany for 4 months.

I then waited to be taken to another area for sedation and to have the fracture reduced. The doctors (Alex and Nyi) were very helpful, patient and kind and took time to explain the procedure to me.

The nurse in charge in sedation was Kate and she was absolutely wonderful. She was efficient, very reassuring and incredibly kind and helpful. The other nurses there were also delightful.

The sedation itself was a very difficult experience but the staff had explained beforehand just what would happen, for which I was very grateful.

Eventually I was taken to a ward for some time before discharge and Rachel, the nurse there, was lovely.

Alex the doctor took time to give me a referral to the specialist in Perth so that I did not have to visit my GP unnecessarily.

All in all, I found the treatment in the Albany Emergency to be very good, with excellent staff.

Dear veganx68,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience about Albany Health Campus - though I’m sorry to learn of your injury and the discomfort you must have experienced travelling for treatment.

Our staff are mindful that people often arrive in the Emergency Department having been in discomfort for some time and I’m very pleased to know that you received prompt, diligent and compassionate care.

Thank you for making the effort to remember the names of the staff that cared for you, and for taking the time to publically recognise them on Patient Opinion. It is always wonderful for staff to receive such great personalised feedback. I’ll make certain that those mentioned receive it.

I wish you all the very best for a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Vicky Besier
