"Unprofessional staff"

About: Central Gippsland Health

(as a relative),

Earlier this week I was waiting in the front entrance for a family member to finish a test. A group of 3 or 4 security staff were in an office, speaking loudly about inappropriate things that I could hear.

They were using bad language and I believe even talking about people walking past them. It was extremely unprofessional, in my opinion.

Dear izarmr64,

My name is David and I am the Hotel Services Manager at Central Gippsland Health. Please accept my thanks for taking the time to share your story and my apologies for letting you down on this occasion.

Central Gippsland Health have developed a Communication Charter which works to ensure that all communication is professional, respectful, inclusive and courteous. I am disappointed to learn of your experience as this is not the behaviour we wish to exhibit.

As a health service provider, we believe that all community members deserve to feel comfortable and respected when visiting our hospital.

I will present your feedback to our Security staff at our next team meeting. Your story is a valuable reminder of how our behaviour is perceived by others and we will do everything we can to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Once again, I apologise for any distress this experience has caused and wish to thank you for providing insight into our service from the consumer’s perspective.

If you would like to discuss this matter any further, please don’t hesitate to contact me at David.Askew@cghs.com.au or (03) 5143 8926.

Yours sincerely

David Askew
