"My maternity experience at Sale Hospital"

About: Sale Hospital / Women's and Children's

(as the patient),

It always baffles me that you never hear feedback about places (especially hospitals) unless it's negative... So, I'd love to take a moment to express my satisfaction with the Central Gippsland Health Service (Sale Hospital).

I have recently been discharged, following the birth of my second baby. My first child was born at another hospital. Everything from the birthing, to the fantastic management of a potential haemorrhage (previous significant PPH), the doctors, midwives, cleaners, all staff, food, everything, was great in my opinion.

I felt incredibly 'heard' throughout the whole experience; I loved how breastfeeding was encouraged, and I never felt like I was being told what to do with my baby or had any ideas pushed on me. It was a very private experience with little interference (but great assistance when I needed it), often they were able to see when I needed support.

And last, but perhaps most importantly, they let me stay until I was ready to go home. So thank you 💜

Dear snowqw83,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story. Your kind words have been shared with the various departments that you have highlighted.

A visit to Hospital can be an anxious time, and our aim is to deliver care and services that have you at the centre of your care. I am very pleased that this has been your experience; that the team has listened to you; and that you have felt “heard” through your stay.

We continue to focus on this and are commencing a major improvement program titled “person-centred care” which involves staff training as well as learning from the patients and clients who need our services.

I wish you and your family all the very best with your new little one.

Kind regards

Mandy
