"Covid clinic"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I felt extremely uncomfortable when I visited the hospital recently and hearing about the COIVID clinic being in the emergency department at Sydney Hospital. Why? Aren't we meant to be keeping a distance to avoid the spread?  In my opinion, of all places, surely the SH should be taking the right measures by thinking of their patients and staff during this pandemic crisis.

Dear mad,

Thank you for sharing your experience. All emergency departments conduct Covid-19 testing, and this is managed within infection control procedures that maintain a safe setting for our staff and patients. You may also have noticed physical distancing measures in place in the waiting areas.

I appreciate that Covid-19 is a concern for all of us at the present time, and want to assure you that our emergency staff have a great deal of expertise in the management of infectious diseases and infection control and prevention.

Kind regards,

Alan
