"Positive experience as a support person"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Gynaecology Oncology Department

(as a friend),

Recently in the morning, I accompanied my friend to be their support person as they attended an appointment at the Oncology/Gynaecology Unit. I can only say that the whole experience ended with my friend needing surgery and a date organised swiftly.

All hospital staff working under the restrictions of Covid-19 were respectful, efficient and took ample time to deal with the situation in hand.

The Doctors, Nurses, Office Staff were a delight to deal with. I found the experience to be supportive and kind and at all times, professional and made what was a rather distressing time, so much easier to deal with.

Congratulations to all involved, as we both left the hospital feeling very confident about the pending surgery and much anxiety allayed.

I believe my dear friend will return for their surgery soon, feeling they are in good hands.

Thanking you all.

Dear zebrazm88,

Thank you so much for sending this wonderful feedback. It is always great to hear such praise for our Gynaecology Team. I will share your lovely comments with the staff at the clinic. Things are different in the hospital at the minute, but it's great to hear that we are still delivering an excellent standard of care.

Stay safe and well.

Helen McCarthy,

Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services
