"Care whilst in A&E"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I attended Geraldton Hospital A&E recently in the evening after dislocating my toe. I arrived at the department in severe pain and unable to walk, immediately a staff member at the door called for a wheelchair for me. The department was extremely busy yet I felt the staff treated everyone with kindness and were caring. They kept smiling while doing their job.

Although the wait was very long it was understandable. My injury was small yet I was dealt with so professionally. Thank you to all the staff, PSA, Nurses, Doctors and X-ray, you are doing an amazing job.

Dear Injured toe,

Thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback on the kind and caring treatment you received at Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department on Care Opinion. Feedback like yours helps us recognise what we are doing well and that the care we provide is valued by the communities we serve. Our staff endeavour to deliver high quality patient-centred care that meets our patients' needs and in your experience, I am pleased to read that all our staff showed compassionate and professional care. I look forward to passing on your comments to our team.

As with other Emergency Departments, the staff at the Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department use the Australasian Triage Scale to guide prioritisation of care. People are treated in order of their clinical urgency which means they may not be seen in the order they arrive and I would like to thank you for your understanding of this and patience for the wait time.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to write to us, it is appreciated.

I hope you are on the road to recovery and wish you all the best.

Kind regards

Tina
