"Getting my life back on track"

About: Lives Lived Well - Toowoomba

(as a service user),

I have had a hard life with many ups and downs and turned to drugs as a younger man nearly 40 years ago. How good it is to be not using methamphetamines.

I came to Lives Lived Well with no expectations that they could help me. Talking to Vicky helped me get a chip off my shoulder and get my life back on track big-time. She made me stronger than I ever have been and showed me there is another way to live in this world other than drugs.

Talking about my past and what was going on in my life gave me the strength to make the changes in my life and be confident enough to say no to people who took advantage of me. It has made such a difference to my life, couldn't be happier.

I would encourage anyone struggling with addiction and the consequences of life choices to contact Lives Lived Well. Vicky made me feel very comfortable and safe, It was so good to have someone understand and not judge me, it is never too late to ask for help, I actually miss our sessions. Thankyou LLW with all my heart and gratitude, I feel like a proper human again. I only hope others are brave enough to come through your doors.

Hello, It's Never Too Late.

Thank you for taking the time to share some of the essential parts of your story and your experience of attending Lives Lived Well's Toowoomba offices for support. Thank you for acknowledging Vicky's role in helping you make these changes in your life. I will pass on your post to her. We appreciate too, your thanks and gratitude you expressed to LLW.

Finding the strength and courage to make changes in your life is such an uplifting experience. Having the confidence to say 'no' to old patterns and colleagues in that space is a brave step and as you have told us, makes such a difference in your life.

At Lives Lived Well we believe that with the right support, people can make changes to their lives. Just what that 'right support' looks like sometimes takes a while to find. One key aspect is to remove harsh judgement and have some compassion for your self. The other way you learnt with Vicky has these elements. My hope for you is that you can maintain your confidence in this other way and continue to 'feel like a proper human'. If you need additional support you are always welcome at LLW. As you say, it is never too late to ask for help and it is never too late to ask for further help when we need it.

I wish you all the best for your future.

Warm regards,

Gerard
